Youth and Gambling

We are seeing a change in the gambling environment which is directly impacting our youth. Digital media, smart phones and tablets make it easy for young people to download games and access online services. Setting up an online account for sports betting is easy, and making a few wagers through a game seems harmless. However more and more we are finding that game developers are incorporating simulated gambling, real gambling and or elements of gambling within a game. It is often hard to decipher between gaming and gambling.

Quite often young people are unaware of the likelihood of developing a gambling addiction. If you or anyone you know is under the age of 21 and has an issue or is unsure if they have an issue, contact us to speak with one of our health professionals.
